“Beginnings” (Matthew 2:23) [Spanish Jerusalem Bible series – Matthew 10 sub series The 'Four' Level]

“So how ’bout you, there Stuie, babe –
Will you be known by spirit, shade,
Of towns that raised you to this point?
Each town has “Tone”, which it anoints –

“Each citizen who dwells therein
With – culture-base where you begin
To comprehend the world, to date.
Where you will now participate.”

For me? I’m Creenglish, coming from
An “echo land” – for I’m the sum
Of all I’ve met, as poet said –
First base that’s laid was where I fed –

From two or three sub-parts of towns,
Where parents worked – I hung around
Those people, learned of life from each –
More “Caught” their drift (they tried to teach –

But I am an “Autodidact” type –
I learn myself – I’m not that bright,
But smart enough to catch their drift,
Though teacher-types were often miffed –

When I would not buy party line;
I went my way and made out fine;
Like Jesus, called a “Nazarene”
From where He grew, first life had been.

That is, until first sermon day –
Did not go well, so when they laid
Their hands on him to throw him out,
He slipped away (advice he’d spout –

At later day when “Twelve” would start) –
“Just take your leave, slip out, depart;
It’s marathon, not just a Sprint
So pace yourself, wrap up your stint –

On hostile territory quick.
No need to suffer soldier’s whip
Before you even get your start –
Take cue from me – move on, depart.

“The time will come for you to stay,
But not at first – be on your way;
There’s times and seasons for all things –
Move on; see what the future brings.”

Thanks Lord for this.
