“And So…”
And so the time for us has come
To say goodbye – it has been fun;
So mom, farewell, it’s been a slice,
For one and all – five decades – nice.Lord, thanks for mom – that’s Carol’s mom –
And dad – they both through life, as one,
Gave us so much – community –
As hand in hand – a unity –Of purpose, love, and way of life;
Of give-and-take, with what sufficed
To do the time, in life they chose,
As Scottish clans of Marshall-Rose.I met them back in sixty-eight –
Old farm-house there, corral with gate
(Mare-urine for “The pill” back then);
Workshop I loved – old tools for when –Breakdowns occurred there on the farm;
Feed-mill he’d built; fence kept from harm
The calves he loved – best part for him;
Grain part was feed – his way to win.They both had lives which intertwined –
Her church and choir (was so inclined);
Her Willing Workers; Reeve-job his;
With eye to make the best of biz.End of an era for us all –
My mom and dad both gone – that’s fall
Of fourteen saw the end for her –
Quite numb I’ve been – life’s been a blur.Well, Lord, your servant, Anne, will be
On other side quite soon with Thee,
Preparing butter-tarts for all
To welcome there, when us You call.Thanks Anne, for your big part in all our lives. God bless.
Stu.
Thanks Lord for this.
[Note: Anne Rose died in her sleep between 6 and 7 AM the next morning]
