Lies in Dave’s statement, for it brings
Home to my doorstep – my next move –
For I can flag what I approve.He states his view of “dollar bills” –
In doing so, he here distills
What money is out on the street –
“Certificate” – a concept sweet.For “Gratitude” comes to the fore
Of what we give our money for –
“Certificates of gratitude”
Which range with varied amplitude.That’s so much better, to my mind,
Than “Substitute for cow, or kind,
In barter”, which leaves out the thanks
Which money shows, through central banks.That’s also speaks of taxes paid –
Our thanks for roads which have been laid;
For healthcare in pandemic days;
For what’s enabled many ways.It’s thanks for clerks who dangers face
Out in harms way here in this case;
Of order-clerks who bring goods in
By truck and mail, that all might win –This battle through these tougher times,
With common folks on battle lines;
“Certificates of thanks” – indeed
Thanks Lord, for meeting daily need.Thanks Lord for this.
