“The Comb-Through –E – Rules” (Mt.5:17; 11:2; 28:20) [Sun Tsu First Half Re-Write # –1:2E]

Ability to hold the line
Around one’s men and women, time
And time again, is in demand
By good and bad throughout the land.

It’s discipline which some describe
As requisite to there abide
As head of rag-tag groups of folks,
And not be viewed as quiet joke.

It’s law some others say with scorn,
For those who break it, are not torn
By acts of conscience – glibly bear
The wrath of legal system’s glare.

Its rules some say who live their lives
As rule-bound souls, hence do not thrive;
Do this, do that, as Simon says,
And all will flourish, all will pay.

But Jesus says one thing quite new –
“I came to live My life through you,
And therefore I fulfill each law,
Thus lifting you from life that’s raw.

Disciple (that’s a verb-form here)
Is tied to discipline – that’s clear;
Imperative in Great Command’s
Re: what to do in foreign lands.

Disciples are not born, they’re made,
To implement Christ’s plans, once laid;
That His last task might be complete
Through His disciples – scorn defeat.

Lord, acts of love, proactively
Completed by the likes of me,
Are quite impressive – hold them out
That we might do what You’re about.

So which side is discipled best?
Fifth data-comb-through, like the rest
Addresses for You, “Go – no go”
Once facts are in, so then You know.

Just knowing these five are mixed in
Helps us relax, in You begin
To carry on, engage the foe
With deeds of kindness which You show –

To us, that we might persevere,
And touch the hearts which are so near;
Lord, thanks for Your intense review
Of data gained – that we might do –

The things You wish to do through us,
Or say amidst the whirling muss
Of pinwheel’s spinning fins as around
Your central pin, where peace is found.

Thanks Lord for this.
