“Quiet Unfolding?”

Now piece by piece it all just comes apart,
For business world, and those who seek to start
A new beginning – startups, like the birds
In ancient coal mines – safe when they are heard.

They squawk, of course, so one knows they’re alive;
Their pay’s so low with promise they will thrive;
Like Noah’s boat, they think God saves their skiff,
Which preaches well, but too much is amiss.

More like the people high up in the trees –
Tsunami rises, crushing all it sees;
Each desperate move, outsiders comprehend,
But in their trees, each climber feels it bend.

So, people flee, while others put on calm;
Such “Best defenses” quickly folks put on;
To no avail – too little and too late –
Tsunami hits – destruction in its wake.

You noted, Lord, that many such would come,
And cautioned us to hit the hills, to run
And not be caught when all comes tumbling down;
But more than that, see larger scope around.

For end-times come with bang and flash too bright;
There is no fleeing, lightning in the night –
Is just how fast it’s on us, then it’s gone;
The time is now – ’fore Nagasaki’s bomb.

We took a book ’bout Halifax at war –
Two ships collided, ending life before
Folks could look good, game-faces all in place;
In what was left, quite otherwise the case.

The eyes to see, to act, to fix the pipes,
Is different from perfection where the right
Is what’s displayed – “I made it, can’t you see?
Unlike the others, I end perfectly”.

Well, Lord, that’s great, but as You pointed out,
No one is perfect, life’s what we’re about;
And as we bide in You, and You in us,
We get to live on layer above the fuss –

Which frees us to do “This and that” for You,
As each responds as body-part – so few
You have, and yet enough to win the day,
Though friends, and cash, and life all pass away.

So Lord, as I look ’round, observe all this,
A paper-trail jot down with heaven’s kiss;
I pray Your grace to soldier on once more,
Within Your love, Your kingdom-layer our floor.

For we’ve no hope beyond that Kingdom-fact;
Our task? To welcome others – as Your tact
Unfolds – invite, then welcome others in –
“Today” Paul said – is best time to begin.

Thanks Lord for this.
