“What Courage Is” (Ps.11; Mt.4; 1Cor.13Mt.27) [Sun Tsu First Half Re-Write # – 1:6D]

So what is courage, fourth of five
On list – which makes a leader thrive?
Who’s more courageous of the two?
Is Satan, or is Christ to you?

Well, satan from the shadows shoots
At innocent of heart; to boot,
He lies, and steals, destroys, and calls
His kingdom-folks to toss it all.

He offered Jesus short-cut ways
Like feeding poor to have His ways;
Put self at center of His life;
Test God to care in temple-flight.

He said to Jesus, “Go my way,
And all is Yours right now, today”;
Through Peter he bade Jesus cower,
Not face His final crucial hour.

And Christ? Faced down His enemies;
Walked freely in the temple, seized,
A chunk of rope to drive out slime,
First week of work, then wrap-up time.

He stood refusing to defend
Himself against untimely end;
Old Satan figured he had won;
God raised in end His only Son.

Abandoned, He endured the cross;
Forgave His captors; paid the cost
Of our reduction; all had fled;
And on that cross, with courage, bled.

So which is more courageous? Christ!
To me at least, and my advice
Is follow now such leadership,
As body-part – where you best fit –

As Jesus wraps up His last task –
Defeating powers, as Father’s asked;
Authorities brought down as well;
And principalities of hell –

Then death, the final victory;
When Kingdom’s turned, for unity,
Back to the Father – all now one;
Such is the courage of the Son.

Thanks Lord for this.
