“On Sociology” (1 Corinthians 15:24-28; 1 Cor.15:24-28; Gen.2)[“Reflections On Todd intro p.18, to Adam Smith's Book An Inquiry Into The Nature And Causes Of The Wealth Of Nations Indianapolis : Liberty Classics, 1981 (Vol.I and II) Book 1]

In this book, Adam Smith, I see,
Is into Sociology;
His Wealth of Nations follows on
The Sentiments (to it belongs).

For knowledge of activities
Of man in his society
Was what Smith tried to gain in life –
It’s Sociology he writes.

Lord, this has different meaning now,
For Kingdom-layer’s emerged, and how
Your final task fits into this –
World focus after Eden’s bliss.

He had three interests on this score –
His “Moral Sentiments” and more,
His Jurisprudence folded in
With Economics – three-fold sin.

That’s “Sin”, rebellion from You, God –
Defines You out; folks think it odd
That center of the universe
Be God – for them it’s quite reverse –

“Put anything in center place
Of life (it’s guess in any case),
Except Judaeo-Christian ‘God’” –
No way that flies here on the sod.

“Why does this hurt so much?” folks ask;
“Why are folks mean?” “Why is the trash
We generate, up to our necks,
For which no end’s in sight just yet?”

For them the Eden yarn is guff –
“Old fashioned”, is religious stuff”;
They say – “Not true, so why pay heed?
To us it’s so much thoughtful weeds.”

To me two kinds of stories rank
As central to our memory bank –
True stories like some water clear,
And stories bringing water near –

Like bucket with the truth inside;
For hidden truth which there resides
Slips in my mind – I cannot see –
So can’t resist it’s helping me.

Who cares which type of story comes
Into our minds, when we are numb
To life around when it implodes?
“Old wisdom” can ease up one’s load.

For me, “post-Eden" has this twist
With implications for old Smith –
Unless as body-parts we live
In Christ, we can’t full meaning give –

To any of “Economy”
Or larger “Sociology”
Or “Moral sentiments” because
The world seen now is world that was.

Until that aspect’s straighten out,
To me, there can be little doubt
That upside down, and back to front,
All things remain, which we confront.

Thanks Lord for this.
