“Going Pro” [Reflections On Michael Freeman's Book 35mm Handbook Philadelphia: Courage Books, 1980 - Sec. 3 Intro]

Professional or amateur,
It matters not, one thing’s for sure –
Our greatest work in end is seen
To be our own – where we have been.

Some laud the purity of pix –
An amateur produces – clicks
Of this and that; no work for cash;
More buildup of a worker’s stash.

Some others laud the platform made
Commercially – where talent’s laid
The groundwork for increasing skills;
Sufficient cash augments one’s will.

Few folks can mix their own accord
With work for others – so his word
Is, “Pick and choose what you can use
From final section of these views”.

But many use such “Photo Tools”
Within another field, and choose
To do life “Photographically” –
A blend that works successfully.

My brother did that in his task
Of sales – far more than boss had asked;
And he was far superior
In pix (my work’s inferior).

But his was “Tool, augmenting sales
With Info-base”, where talking fails
To sell the goods (quite technical) –
A thousand words he saved as well.

To me all this says I could do
A lot to make our process new –
Defeating evil in this way
Lets “Light of world, see light of day”.

Thanks Lord for this.
