“The Bi-Plays Of Disruption” [Spanish Jerusalem Bible Series - Job sub-series - # 1:1-5-B]

Why did this author write this book?
Why now? Why take this deeper look?
Folks knew about Job all roundabout –
“That righteous guy – what made him pout”.

Ezekiel cites him, one of three,
As being stellar guy – you see,
Ezekiel wrestled with the thought
Of “One’s own sin, not what dad wrought”.

So why did this book spring up now?
Verse one to five, one might allow,
Gives one wee clue (as Cree, I hear –
“The throw-away’s what makes things clear”).

Ten kids get killed right off the bat –
It’s camouflaged as part of that
Wee test laid on by Satan’s schemes;
Passed off as that – as, “What book means”.

But not, for me in Creenglish view –
Cap fits – I wear it – something new
Emerges here, not in the past;
Old story used – new context cast.

I hear “Third culture kids”, ’round here –
Perhaps the Exile-time made clear,
Or even the “Return back home” –
Disruption’s by-play’s in this tome –

Two things emerge when people cross
A culture’s boundary – there’s a cost –
Relationship with God or man
(Or both) will suffer – or they can.

Verse one to five both aspects here
Are raised in innuendo clear –
Incest (or impropriety)
And scoffing dad’s old Deity.

Is first one hinted at because
He sees disruption as the cause?
That family relationships
Are breaking down because of it?

Job has a hunch that all’s not well,
Though “Cursing God” the author tells
Us is his main concern – it’s half;
We see the other – makes us laugh –

Today because it’s a rampant here –
“There’s hanky-panky – that part’s clear!
Hey Job! Wake up! It’s all a mess!
While you’re at church, why not confess –

“Their horizontal troubles? – man
Or woman – such disruption can
Mess up their kinship’s deepest ties,
Oft covered up with careful lies.”

So maybe look at Job again
To listen through to struggle when
They had their lives torn from their roots –
Hear words applied to us, forsooth.

Thanks Lord for this.
