“The Hockey Game Of Life” ([Spanish Bible Series - Colosenses Sub-Series #2 (3:18-4:1)][FBC presentation]

As we are approaching Labor Day
And slavery (all work, no pay)
No longer cuts it in our land
I wonder how to understand –

Paul’s words of caution on this page
“Obey” round here gets folks enraged
In any context, so I guess,
It’s “Right and fair” that might be best –

To focus on – to keep it light,
And family-friendly for the tykes;
Though, “Jesus as our boss” is cool,
As we return to work and school –

For as a boss, He is the best –
Works endlessly (one day of rest),
And bids me imitate His ways,
Laid out in what the Scripture says.

I asked the Lord (the “Boss”), in prayer,
How best to understand “Be fair”
And “Right” – what would suffice each day?
He told me of a power-play –

“View Brandon as a hockey town –
Ten panels of the boards go ’round
The ice in which you play the game,
As Ten Commandments – much the same.

“Out on a lake where one can skate,
Go anywhere, you can’t partake
In hockey game without some boards,
Or you’ll chase pucks long afterwards.

“So, for a tighter, faster, game,
Ten panel-boards contain the range
Of actions (those out on the lake
Are free to wander off and skate –

“Ten panels help the game along –
Take one away, that puck is gone!
That’s what the Scripture’s saying, friend,
’Bout ‘right and fair’ – you comprehend?”

Thanks Lord for this.
