“Well… Sort Of” (Eph.6:10-20; 1 Cor.15:24-28) [Reflections on Book: Wm.C.King (ed) Portraits and Principles of The World's Great Men And Women Chicago: The King-Richardson Co. 1899 - #29/100]
What’s said is true enough but it ignores the bigger pix –
“Work hard and push your limits, chum, and future you will fix;
For only you care for yourself, so buckle down and play
Your part today with all your might, then dues will have been paid.“But more than that rise up above ‘Acceptable’ today,
And go for ‘Excellence’, it takes another fee to pay
In application of oneself to task and talent base;
Then in good time the boss will call and raise you to your place.”But who takes on the “System” for corrupt it also is?
Since Adam left the garden sin’s infected all our biz;
It’s not just Sam, and Joe, and Mike, or Betty, Sue, and Jane,
But systems they create and which they choose to keep the same.“Systemic sin” is all around, pervasive in our world;
And just because it curbs man’s sin, and that of boys and girls,
Does not exempt it from the part that Jesus now puts down,
For “Principalities and Powers” are in the Bible found.For evil has its tentacles embedded everywhere –
The “White supremacist” (or black) has structured ways that tear
Apart the hearts of “Outside” group who fail to make the cut,
Enforced by those who then subscribe to laws to kick their butt.That colonel from the southern states who lost in Civil War,
Came to our town in Canada – could stomach South no more
(Now blacks were free, were citizens, could do what e’er they wished)
So he came north and graced our town with way of life he missed.Once settled, he and heavy dude went down to US line,
Made sure all blacks failed medicals, and thought he did just fine;
Blacks wanted to come here as well, escape the southern ways,
Do farming here in Canada – got caught in system’s plays.So here they named a street for him, for systems work quite well
To structure in our evil ways, create our little hells;
So that’s my problem with this piece of “Wisdom” in this tome –
It preaches well, but only part, the rest needs cover blown.For such is rampant here today – ask women, gays, and crooks;
The system’s rigged, First Nations kids – disqualified by looks –
“Disabled? Mental challenges? Too bad, you lose again;
We own the system and decide who wins the living game.“So work your hearts of boys and girls, the future’s in our hands;
Perhaps you’d better hit the road, head off to distant lands
Where they allow you “Other” types to be oppressors there;
We win; you lose; so bottom line is, ‘We don’t really care’.”Thanks Lord for this.
