“Art” [Reflections on Book: Wm.C.King (ed) Portraits and Principles of The World's Great Men And Women Chicago: The King-Richardson Co. 1899 - #73/100]

Transition time in photo-art
Describes the time when I took part
In photographing what was mine,
In terms of world I saw as fine.

I didn’t “Get it” at the first;
You carried me through change, so worst
Avoided was, as I moved on,
In journeyed-quest – now long since gone.

Transition in society;
Transition in my family;
Transition in locating here;
Transition in what now appears –

As central to this life, O Lord,
As deeper aspects I have heard
In Scripture’s thoughtful heritage –
So rich indeed each changing stage –

So, Lord as now “Simplicity”
Emerges in the things we see,
That aspect in my photo-art
Elusive was – but now I start –

To see it’s how it all wraps up –
It’s all passed on – for me, that’s tough,
But thank You, Lord, for giving me
Your view through life, that I might see –

A rich and layered life a bit,
At least – some saw much more of it
But me? Hey, Lord, it’s been a slice!
And art’s simplicity’s been nice.

Thanks Lord for this.
