“Room To Maneuver” (Exodus 14:13; Psalm 40:2; 23:4; Exodus 22:30; Zechariah 14:4; first Corinthians 15:58; James 5:8) [Sun Tsu series 10-1D]

Sometimes when things get tight for us, or for the enemy,
It’s best to take a second look and see what you can see;
Is there much room to change your mind, turn ’round and face the foe?
Or will you be constricted there, wiped out before you know?

Of course it works both ways – if you seize high ground ’fore the fight,
Plug up all access passes, roads, and focus all your might
Upon a focal point, they’ll either back off or attack;
But in that case you’re fortified, don’t have to watch your back.

To pick a fight, no room to move, and he’s well fortified,
Is not advisable, of course, like week when Jesus died –
It was intended on His part – “Give your best shot, big man –
I’m here to set these people free, in this constricted land”.

He had arrived sometime before, but timing was not right;
Passover time great symbols had – ’twas Egypt’s darksome night,
When they were freed from slavery; now here were nations blessed,
As Jesus took constricted path, and all the world has rest.

Through Valley of death’s shadow we are sometimes asked to go;
It’s different now on Kingdom-layer, for here we freedom know;
Sure, it’s still problematic, but with valleys lifted up,
And roads made straight, and mountains low, we’re up above the muck.

For death and life inverted are – no call to foolish be;
But still, constricted ground ahead, God’s miracles we see
So often through defeat, or sometimes even in a win,
As evil forces back right off, and righteous life begins.

Then, battle’s for another day, for war is never done
Until the end of time, when we will see that Christ has won;
So when we step back, or he does, it’s still a brief reprieve
Until our next encounter – by retreat don’t be deceived.

So Lord, what’s all this talk about constricted context here?
“As you pursue your daily tasks, defend those you hold dear;
There’ll be a time when you back off; as first, you’ll occupy;
But also time you’ll walk right in – sometimes not knowing why.

“But rest assured, I am aware of contexts all the time;
So trust Me; do your best in such; it’s not a tight-rope fine,
But rather, “Messy” often times; constricted; cannot see
A way to exit from the scene, as there’s no way to flee.

“Stand still, like Moses at the beach, Red Sea ahead that day –
Pursuing army at the rear – to all there seemed “No way”;
He asked Me, and I said, ‘Stand still and My salvation see’;
He did; and the like at Easter time, the people were set free.

“So Stu, constriction’s not all bad, it gives one focused thought;
And action has a point to it, for exit roads are blocked;
So, pause in Me on pinwheel’s pin, or Kingdom-layer’s ice,
And see salvation through the dust and smoke – I will suffice.

“For if and when you can’t hold on to treasure I have given,
I hold the other end of it, for after death there’s living;
Rest in My peace; do as I ask; it’s yours to trust, obey;
For in the end, when evil’s done, we will have won the day.”

Thanks Lord for this.
