“Practice” (James 1: 22; 1 John 2; Matthew 25:31f; 7:21) [Sun Tsu series 10 – 5A]

To know this stuff is critical in war;
To put in practice all, is even more;
“Be doers of the word”, Apostle said,
“Not hearers only” – or you’ll end up dead.

The leader of the spearhead (or the Van),
Needs understanding of this, if he can;
Great Generals who rise above the rest
Do this with ease, and so are viewed as best.

Terrain is either used, or you will lose;
Assessment of the enemy is used
As well – anticipation of his moves,
Means you control the victory (says Tsu).

The dangers and defilements ahead,
The distances to battle as they’re read,
Go in the mix of choosing how to fight,
For they augment the tao of victor’s might.

Lord, You have said that we should fall in line
With leadership You give to make out fine;
Though we give up, ahead, all benefits,
The crown of victory is Yours – it fits.

For You’re greatest General around;
How good it is in life that we’ve been found;
For now fresh understanding comes about –
Direction, guidance ours, without a doubt.

Lord, this is awesome – way beyond my ken –
Apprenticeship and training up ’till when
We find ourselves confronted by the foe,
That into battle lovingly we go.

Thanks Lord for this.
