“Invincible” [Sun Tzu series 10 – 1E]

I saw this movie as a kid
Where cowboys on the mountain hid;
Until attacked, they got prepared,
Their logs and rocks were many layered.

They waited ’till the foe came up,
Then pulled the pin – their weapon rough,
But worked quite well against their foe,
Who joined the landslide – Tally Ho!

I guess they should have read Sun Tzu,
A classic case of what to do –
If you’re there first, pile up the trash,
So you can “Rock-on-egg shell” smash.

But if you’re not, don’t follow them!
Or hunt them down – back off again;
Perhaps he will not take the bait,
But don’t get hit, for Heaven’ sake.

Lord, this extreme is hard to see,
At least for prairie boy like me;
And yet in urban scene there’s towers,
Which speak to me of latent powers.

That is, “If one can build like this,
Don’t think of me as a tiny fish,
But rather, as a shark – back off,
And don’t at latent power scoff.”

Lord, power speaks in this fair land
A language most folks understand;
We’re not remote from logs and rocks
Which tumble down – for power talks.

To speak to power, like Easter time
When You to Pilate spoke Your mind –
Not ill-advised – but word to meet
His query, “What is truth?” – Defeat –

Was what the Romans did not take –
They held the heights, and there could wait;
But in the end, they too came down
To humble pie on lower ground.

Us Prairie boys see towers as high;
No mountains here on which to die;
But when we hear of avalanche,
We’re thinking, “I would take the chance”.

Young kids think they will last for aye,
So common sense they don’t obey;
Lord, help us sense what You know well –
Such upward fighting’s living hell.

Thanks Lord for this.
