“God’s General” (Luke 22:26; 1 Peter 5:2; John chapter 15; Exodus chapter 17) [Sun Tsu series 10 – 2D]

There’s General, then officers, and so on down the ranks;
When trouble brews up at the top, there’s little cause for thanks;
Unless such fuss is soon controlled, it’s “Ruin” one is in,
“Collapse”, and “Crumbling”, structure’s gone – and all because of sin.

That’s sin, the singular – revolt, rebellion, out of hand,
Obstreperous, belligerent, irate, by no means bland;
Resentment boils, and spite abounds, fierce anger’s unrestrained;
When they are insubordinate, “Rebellion’s” how it’s framed.

Such energy encountering an enemy alone,
Responds not wisely or too well, for under all’s a tone
Which clouds the mind, breaks unity, cooperation lacks;
So stepping into battle means you soon will all get whacked.

If General cannot control top officers as such,
Before he can assess the scene, cannot do very much;
No clue about capacity of officers or ranks,
For overall position they are in has info-blanks.

He doesn’t know if feasible it is to mount attack,
Or if it’s wiser at this time to have the men pull back;
Should they turn left, or right, or stay the course despite the mess?
When upper structure falls apart, defeat He must confess.

Lord, this is all above my grade of pay, as folks might say;
Such officers above my rank are many leagues away,
But I can see the problem for a pyramid exists,
And into such a structure is where lower troops enlist.

We like to think, “I could do that (like be a principal –
I’ve been to school, I’ve seen it done, capacity is full);
But that’s what would become of us if we took up such tasks –
We’d find ourselves beyond our depth, in everything but sass.

Is that not what old Lucifer thought in that story old?
He thought he could run things quite well, at least so we are told;
But underneath’s a selfish heart – defining evil now –
With that approach, we’d go that route – Sun Tsu here speaks of how.

A saying says that “Power corrupts”, when absolute it is
Corrupted totally for all, in government or biz;
I’d add, that’s true just anywhere, we do not handle well
Both power and money, but believe to have them would be swell.

It’s always easy to complain, believe the best of us,
When actually we’d need support if we were faced with fuss;
Foment rebellion in the ranks? A foolish thing to do –
For spirit of rebellion spreads, comes back to haunt you too.

So General is key for all, like one who knows his stuff;
I’m glad, O Lord, it’s You in charge, or things would be quite rough;
It’s tough when battle calls our ranks, we need good structure then,
Lest in the heat of battle, crumbling structure would descend.

So help us Lord to ’bide in You; be patient to the core;
Give sustenance, encouragement, so leaders can do more
To guide, direct, give leadership, when asked by You this day;
And if our turn to lead comes ’round, help us to know the way.

Thanks Lord for this.
