“Of Distant Lands” [Sun Tzu series 10 – 1F]

Now this is scene we understand
Here on the Prairie’s barren land –
If enemy quite distant is,
It’s hard to conduct army biz.

I guess the sea is much that way
The ocean’s vast – think of that prey
The Bismarck – slipped to open sea;
The dickens sinking it indeed.

Or submarines which can stay down
For months – they are not seen around;
Though satellites, and drones have changed
So much of that – to rich man’s game.

Mistake of UCC I’d say –
Out on the prairies every day
It’s hard to tell the distances –
And therefore where resistance is.

They thought I was quite close; in fact,
I was quite distant – much of that
Was due to “Culture-gap” – you see,
Two, side-by-side, close cannot be –

When they are from quite different lands,
Whose language, each can’t understand;
Whose customs, way of doing life,
Appear so strange – that’s hard to fight.

For you don’t know what they will do –
You zig, they zag – confuses you;
So doing combat is a joke;
Advantage lost – time they awoke –

What works inside their little clique
Of candles, gowns, and music sweet,
Irrelevant is to the rest,
So in a fight they’re second-best.

Sun Tzu says these six contexts are
The purview of the top – by far,
It’s prime consideration here
Of generals – that much is clear.

Lord, that says You give lots of thought
To evil one and turf he’s got;
So we should heed Your guiding word
On what to do, once You’ve been heard.

For we don’t see the things You do,
Like contexts six – we play the fool
As we engage the enemy
(Or not) when we can’t context see.

Of course, when we think, “Mix and match”
Of other factors, it’s a fact
That we’re inept – with You in charge,
This task You do through us is hard –

For us out here all by ourselves;
But Body-life in You now tells
Us of a possibility
Of coming certain victory.

Thanks Lord for this.
