“Where Angels Fear To Tread” (Isaiah 40:31; acts 5:19; 4:19; first Corinthians 15:24-28; John 15:13; 1 Samuel 15:22; Leviticus 26:8, 36; Deuteronomy 32:30) [Sun Tzu series 10 – 1B]

This type of land is one-way in –
No problem here when you begin,
But getting out is difficult;
So be aware what you’re about.

“Tar baby” is what comes to mind –
Wee story told us, where we find
A doll of tar is taken up,
But letting go is pretty rough.

Or peanut butter in our mouth –
Sticks to the roof – to get it out
You use your finger – it sticks there,
So suck it off – whoops, I’ve been there!

Some call such situations “Barbed”
(Like fish hook – spitting out is hard);
Entangled, or suspended there,
Entrapped, hung up, or just ensnared

“How does that table lie, my friend,
When snooker shot comes to an end?
You make the shot, you win – hey! Great!
You don’t – you lose – so better wait.”

So much depends if they’re prepared;
If not – no-brainer, you’ll have fared
Quite well, but if they wait for you,
Bad scene for you, perhaps you’ll lose.

And if you lose, you’re in a mess –
How does one then “Retreat” address?
Tar baby? Yes a sticky task,
With pressure on to get out fast.

Another situation here
Some folks add on, to them it’s clear –
If you move out, can’t move back in,
That’s also sticky mess you’re in.

So it’s okay if you will win,
But think ahead ’fore you begin –
What will you do, where will you be,
If other side gains victory?

For these are battles, not the war;
Retreat to fight again some more,
Before you go through one-way traps –
Sun Tzu says, “Best you think on that”.

Lord, as I think of SVP –
That situation facing me –
You put me in, then pulled me out
(Airlift was great – of that, no doubt).

For sometimes tasks assigned to us
Have special needs, survival’s tough;
But having died to self and world,
So pin of pinwheel, not the whirl –

Is now our Kingdom-home with Thee,
We know such one-way tasks can be
Assignments in this larger war
You’ve taken on – what Kingdom’s for.

Is enemy prepared? Depends –
But life in You, Lord, often rends
Asunder – chasing thousands down
With one, whose life in You is found.

So Lord, I’m glad You run this show,
And all these situations know;
My mind blows at the thought of this;
In You, I hear, “Give heaven’s kiss”.

Thanks Lord for this.
