“Unraveling” (Isaiah 40:20-31; Ephesians 5:18; Matthew 25:1-13; John 15:5; first Samuel 17; Exodus 17:11ff) [Sun Tzu series 9 – 16]

When officers or those in charge
Quite angry are with men at large,
They’re at their end of energy;
Exhausted are – it’s plain to see.

Reserve supplies and surplus meat
Is divvied up – means their defeat
Is felt to be approaching now;
No need for horses, donkeys, cows.

If preps aren’t made with cooking pots,
And shelters stand unused, they’ve got
No future at the end of day,
Just desperate fighting for today.

Shared messages for folks back home;
Now future life is seen as blown;
The guarded conversations seem
To indicate the fight has been –

A passing part of life for all;
Morale is shot; they’re sure to fall
On bad times in the coming day,
And leadership has lost its sway.

So strengthen weary knees, it’s said
In Scripture, when you feel you’re dead;
Trust in the Lord; on Eagle’s wings
Rise up, and see what morning brings.

Be being filled ahead of need;
Don’t ask for oil – in Scripture read
Of maidens foolish, hand-to-mouth
Approach to task – what that’s about.

When leaders lose charisma, what
Will you do then? Stay in a rut?
Or step up, fill the gap – supply
The timely joke, suppress the sigh?

Some games are lost in locker rooms;
Sometimes Goliath will fall soon;
“Abide in Me”; “Be branch to vine” –
Connect for just such needy times.

Thanks Lord for this.
