“Nuts To You!” [#8A/10 reflections on Stephen Greenblatt’s book – Tyrant – Shakespeare on Politics]

What happens when the King goes nuts,
And portions out three parcels such
That each three daughters gets a slice,
The size proportioned as they’re nice?

One walks away (infuriates
The King); but others are ingrates
Who boot their dad out on his bum,
For their new day of reign has come.

A mini-glimpse by dear old dad
Is all he gets – his end quite sad,
Not just for self and daughters too
But Kingdom pieces split in two.

Lord, madness is a worthy-gig –
Those grasping power, then getting rid
Of former rulers – they replace,
And be oppressors in their case.

But how to trammel down such ones
As lust for power, who, when done
Have wreaked a havoc way beyond
The mad-based way their dad had gone?

Lord, what I’m hearing, in this case,
Is Kingdom-layer as the place
For us to climb on, centered be,
For then we grasp reality –

Without self-interest clouding things;
But rather, freed to wholeness bring;
For it behooves us in the realm,
To ensure health is at the helm.

Lord Jesus, You set standard high
For all of us before we die,
That what we do, or think, or say,
Might pour Your life out every day.

Thanks Lord for this.
