“Behold I Make All Things New” (Rev.21:1-5a; Judges 7 ) [Sun Tzu series #7-15])

To me, it works (both ways), the same –
Morale starts high, then starts to wane;
By supper-time one’s thoughts return
To hearth and home, where lamp lights burn.

Some call it “spirit”, “Ch’i”, “morale”;
It’s “energy”, in part, that swells
Once rest is had; if things are new;
Dawn brings it fresh as hopeful view.

At dawn morale is high – they’re keen;
The ardent ones have breakfast seen,
And press to get at taking on
Their enemies ’fore day is gone.

By noon their Ch’i, or energy,
Is dropping off, that’s plain to see;
It slackens; slumps; they’re indolent;
It flags, and wanes, to great extent.

By dusk, when evening meal draws nigh,
Most soldiers give, at least, a sigh –
They’re homesick, tired, can hardly wait
For rest; as resource dissipates.

It’s clear to those most skilled in war,
Experienced (been here before),
Excelling in their use of force –
“Don’t strike when Ch’i is high – of course.

“Rest up and wait ’till spirit slumps,
They’re sluggish, indolent – then dump
Your rested forces on their heads,
As they prepare to hit their beds.

Let dissipation work for you –
That’s mastery of studied moods;
Just take control of when you hit,
Let victory arise from it.

Manipulating mood this way
Can make the foe all run away;
They’ll spook at leaves blown by the wind,
Like Gideon’s triumphant win.

’Course we must be aware – they too
Will try to rest and out-wait you;
But we have Spirit-mind of Christ –
“Hey friend! Heads up!” – “Take My advice”.

Okay Lord, thanks for this.

(Added Three Verses to) “Behold I Make All Things New” [Sun Tsu Series Chapter 7 #15]

Like, “Hey, I’m here to help you, friend –
I note, in prayer, on knees you bend;
Well, I’m your answer, yes sir-ee
Watch what you pray for – could get Me!”

Well, Lord, thanks for this insight keen,
That mood-affecting can be seen
To be just what it is these days –
“A way to bend folks to one’s ways”.

Lord, this is awful – subtle, too!
Thanks for correction to Your view;
I’d not seen that, ’till You spoke up
And showed discernment task as tough.

Thanks Lord for this.
