“Mobilization” [Sun Tzu Series – 8-1A]

In general, the General would stay at home each night,
Until civilian leaders called him up to go and fight;
Most strategy for using force, employing troops and such,
Has flowed like this, though who’s in charge says who will be in touch.

A Ruler, Lord, or Sovereign, like the King of realm concerned,
All have supreme authority for acting, once they’ve learned
About approaching danger to the group where they’re in charge;
Or choosing to proactive be by setting troops at large.

The order comes to mobilize – executive that is;
To execute such orders is Commander’s major biz;
For populace all get involved when some go out to fight –
An Army’s raised; the legions march once mustered, sent out right.

So too with Christ, who’s Lord indeed of universe our home –
His job is stomping down his foes so freely we can roam;
We sing in Christmas carols of “A manger”-“Baby laid”;
But “Sweet”, “No crying” grew to this – by Him such war is made.

That’s not the line from Sunday school (that’s all that most folks get);
But Paul, in his epistle, spells it out, so we are let
Into this adult-picture – sin does not our Lord amuse;
And that is why He calls us up – “Obey with no excuse”.

Today are druthers are elsewhere – “Let’s actualize ourselves”;
Select “A passion fitting us”, and “Where we’d like to dwell”;
“Develop selves, and serve our age” – “Humanity is King”;
And “Bring to all democracy”, where “Capital’s the thing”.

I recently was made aware of cosmic scale for Christ,
And how He has invited us to join His ranks and fight;
“Salvation Army” thought that way, but now they’ve lost their brand,
And have become like all the rest, just church-groups in the land.

Of course, folks know about the end, some dwell a lot on it;
However, this is more than end, it’s now, and does not fit
Into our two-point-two-kids, single dwelling, with a car;
It musters us to war support, and start right where we are.

It’s this Sun Tzu speaks now about, as Chapter Eight unfolds –
Of Christ, and war on evil one, and enemies which hold
Us in our lives, prevent so much, as they take up the slack,
And leave so few resources for the rest, so food they lack –

Or clothing, shelter, friendly fire one finds on hearth at home,
Or welcome from the dusty roads on which we choose to roam;
Lord, help us to stay sensitive to needs around us, now;
Effects of evil-one we see, and of Your love show how.

Thanks Lord for this.
