“At Least Avoid The Obvious” [Sun Tzu series 9 – 6] (Psalm 40:2; 47:02; 18: 04; 124:04; 42; Matthew 15:14; 6:13; Romans 6:14; Proverbs 9:13ff)

“Amazing grace”, quite popular indeed,
Speaks of our rescue when in deepest need;
The prayer that Jesus taught his men to pray,
Speaks of the need of rescue every day.

“Don’t let us fall” is gist of meaning there,
Into temptation, for it is a snare;
It is so hard to extricate ourselves
From such entanglements of living hell.

Sun Tzu says stay away from nasty ground,
In mountains, or wherever it is found;
Don’t cross a stream that’s swollen from the rain;
Get out of there – go back the way you came.

At least avoid the obvious and leave,
Or skirt such troubled places – there’s no need
To put oneself in jeopardy before
You even get to enemy’s front door.

Leave rough terrain for enemy to haunt;
Stick to the places where there’s little want;
Look after men, matériel, that’s yours;
Avoiding shortcuts, dangerous allure’s.

Lord, leadership, I hear, is stewardship
Of resource You have given, lest it’s ripped
From us, destroyed before it comes to use;
Unnecessary waste heavens no excuse.

Thanks Lord for this.
