“Camping Can Be Dangerous” [Sun Tzu series 9 – 7] (1 Samuel 26:4; Luke 20:10; Hebrews 11:31; 1 Samuel 18:1ff; 1 Peter 5:8; Psalm 121)

It’s good, he says, to back on hills
Right-flank up there – there’s work there still;
It’s not just cozy, safe, secure –
Right-flank at rear has threats for sure.

For spies and booby-traps fit there;
So routing them out takes some care;
That’s job for them especially,
For ambush-folks are tracking thee.

And spies find there fortuitous –
The view is something wondrous;
Quite close, yet up above the scene,
With access down some reedy streams.

There’s always danger on the trail,
But camping lets the spies prevail
Upon their hosts by getting close,
To see, and hear, collect the most.

So route them out; search many times;
Stay vigilant and you might find
Not only spies, but ambush types,
Or where they’ve been, just out of sight.

Lord, spies on our side, heroes are;
For evil one – quite bad, by far;
While ambushes by evil one
Are lethal for us – every one.

Our going out and coming in
Protected are, but when it’s sin,
We suckers are – quite curious,
Then later get quite furious.

At camp that time a trick was played
Flashlight in bag on string was laid
Out in the bay one tranquil eve;
I stripped to check – my mind relieve.

The other campers pulled the cord;
It started moving, came towards me –
I took off, the campers shrieked
With laughter, as ’cross sand I streaked.

Lord, that’s the life on right-rear flank
With tents spread up the rearward bank;
It may not see initial fight,
But treachery fills day and night.

Thanks Lord for this.
