“Well, Here We Go!” [Reflections On Book - 100 Ideas That Changed Graphic Design Stephen Heller and Veronique Vienne - #89]

Now this is what I meant that day –
“Augmented Text” – as place to play
Out “Novel” themes – not graphic fare –
More pix and text, admixed in there.

Here’s what was done to plant some seeds
In graphic arts, enriching need
With cool ideas – layout, fonts,
As used as graphic artist wants.

In eighteen ninety-five a man
With press he owned, a series ran
To colleagues, clients, other folks –
Used stories his – in which he wrote –

And illustrated what he meant;
So Nouveau Art took off – he lent
Support for that approach, with use
He made of techniques he let loose.

That role is often now in blogs,
Or websites where some artist flogs
His thought or process – that’s so cool –
As “Show don’t tell” – make others drool.

Some used a “Theme” to demonstrate
Their concepts, process illustrate,
Like “Fear”; or “Crime”; or “Dirty tricks”
While sub-text theme was heart of it.

Lord, this helps me with current fare
Take back the Internet, show where
One can impact the village green,
Now in the “global commons” seen.

Thanks Lord for this.
