“When Clarity’s Obscured” (Matt.13:10-17) [Reflections On Book - 100 Ideas That Changed Graphic Design Stephen Heller and Veronique Vienne - #82]

When clarity’s obscured one says
Far more than on a clear-sky day
As plane spews smoke for all to see
And message then erupts from me.

It’s “More with less” through Kodalyth;
I loved that stuff – I almost missed
Its power (through obscurity),
But came it did – so I could see –

Its use, for titles on my flick,
And slide-show days for church’s shtick
Just hinted that its potency,
Then got cut off (no sales there’d be).

Well, now I see it’s back again –
Much easier – no darkroom pain
As I montage – in black and white
The mid-tones blending day with night.

For truth, as Jesus noted then,
Sometimes needs story – hidden bends
In road of straight trajectories,
Lest truth be lost in clarity.

Lord, this excites me as I learn
The LightRoom aspect which I yearn
To use to regain potency
Of silver-based photography.

I’ve mourned the loss enough to date;
“Eight hours a day”, You said, but wait
I did until these days – Your gift
To push back loss through mental rift.

A language, yes indeed that’s true –
The truth awaits what’s techno-cool;
But now arrives Your work through me,
As I new parts of truth can see.

Thanks Lord for this.
