“Two Books ” [Reflections on Bk: James K. Van Fleet Lifetime Conversation Guide. Englewood Cliffs New Jersey: Prentice-Hall Inc. 1984 - Intro) (1Cor.15:24-28; Is.50:10-11;Lk.2:22-40;Gen. Ch2-3)

First thing I see on switching from this book
To Scripture, is the different stance it took –
Though Scripture talks specifically of both,
The former speaks of winners, losers – totes –

A pile of twisted ways to use one’s words;
Solicit data; use what one has heard
To “Master people”; “Actions thus control”;
“Gain power”; “So one can achieve one’s goals”.

Isaiah says Your servant is quite blind –
Gropes in the dark, and shares what comes to mind;
As he trusts in Your name, attends within,
And from that starting point, as guide begins.

The former types each light a home-made torch
To light their way, though doing so will scorch
Their world around with what they’ve set ablaze;
In torment they’ll lie down in mess they’ve made.

God warned us back in Eden, “That way’s pain,
As you seek out fresh ways to private gain”;
“Draw from My tree of life, forgo that stuff;
Then you, in Me, will always have enough.”

The former book is handbook – how to do
The task of ruling through the words you use;
Christ spoke of “Kings” who Lord it over folks;
As “Benefactors” authorizing yokes.

But Christ advised us, “Take the servant-role”;
“Be like the youngest” – “Don’t sell out your soul
To gain and the Kingdom of this world – “Watch me” –
“I’m here as one who serves – to set you free”.

A Kingdom’s what the Father gave to Me;
That’s what I now confer, that you might be
A part of Kingdom-life – you’re not the King –
But servants, with My words of life to sing.

We take the subtle route, O Lord, each day;
This former book just sharpens up the way;
It’s nothing new – just focused for our use,
So we’ll successful be, no more excuse.

His focus is on words – creative tools –
How we can use them, to our ends, on fools
Who have no clue – King of the mountain snow
Like kids at play – to top of hill they go.

When others blocked their way, they’re pushed aside;
The top’s the goal, that’s where they will reside
Until another seizes power and place
From them – then great their fall when they’re displaced.

Lord, Paul said You must reign until that day
When all these twisted ways are gone away;
Then Kingdom-layer is turned by You to God
The Father – all in one, on Eden’s sod.

Thanks Lord for this.
