“Flim-Flam” [Crypto Series]

Awoke and saw more clearly now
How “Crypto-Bitcoin Co.” allows
A group to grope in cyber-space,
Explore for all our human race –

Potential of technology –
What strength and weakness there might be;
Use greed as engine (“Make a buck”),
That all might benefit – what luck!

Folks think this new technology
Is “Wave of future”; “I can see
How now ‘The man’ will come to be
Subdued it last – for mercy plead”.

“The ‘one percent’ who’ve wrecked our world,
Disrupting with their greed unfurled”,
Are seen by some to be reined in,
That civil life can re-begin.

I doubt that – it was ever thus –
Each “Gift”, in sinful-mode makes fuss –
Augmented by technology,
Finds newer ways to feed their greed.

For amplifying’s what we do
When we find selfish way that’s new,
At least in West’s society,
With ways surrounding you and me.

Take “Giver-finance” – case in point –
With obfuscation they anoint
All actions, it’s their way of life;
Not worse, just different – “Douse the lights” –

They work in quiet, in behind
The scenes, with resource; like to find
New ways of working – quality
Which later comes to light – all see –

What they’ve made use of all these years
Obscure at first; in time made clear;
That’s true of all gifts – “Human touch”
Improves that way – don’t gripe so much.

The Internet has changed our lives –
In clans and villages we thrived;
But numbers grew, we clustered up
In city-states – new times were tough.

For human sin new outlets found;
Shenanigans were all around,
Until our village-ways caught up,
And civilized, made life less rough.

So, “gossip”, now called “social tools”,
Keeps folks in line; and camera rules
Our city streets – new eyes and ears
The “Busy-body” we all feared.

And crypto-coin – it’s that as well
A tool – allows exchange, so hell
Of clans too tight (Black Plague released)
Shifts freedom up, with room increased.

It took a while to find new ways
To keep in bounds how each sin pays,
So worst abuse each one thought up
Did not destroy – checked by “Enough!”

Stand back and ponder all the change
Each new invention’s brought in range
Of ordinary parts of life –
It takes some time to use each right.

So givers with their “Flim-flam” ways
To work in quiet – secret place
Is needed – yes, can also hide
A sinful twist and merry ride –

But how’s that different from the rest
Of gifts God gave? for we all test
The limits ’till we find the range
Of freedom-stricture best arranged –

To balance “One” with “All” the rest;
Now changes tumble fast – which tests
Our nimbleness – “Kaleidoscope” –
Good image for our lifestyle’s hope.
