“And As You Go, Preach…” (Matthew 10:7)

Two tasks, not one – surprised me now –
Thought other one was task somehow –
But “As you go” is not the task
(The purpose, yes, but it comes last!)

“Go do your task – authority
I give to you, in that you’ll be
Of use to those around – you see
It’s like the “Kingdom thing” for Me.

“That was My task, “Healed” as I went;
For Kingdom-preaching I was sent;
I healed along the way I walked,
But it was not of what I talked.

“And when it got reversed, I prayed –
Left town, and on the others laid
‘The healing work as task for you’
So, get ’er done – there’s lots to do.”

And me, O Lord? What is my task?
And which should tag along my path?
Is it like You, or like Your men,
Who You then on their mission sent?

“Stu, yours is not the ‘Flagstone path’
Or, as a pastor, ‘Shepherd’s staff’;
But rather, “Gopher” – “That and this –
Sing baritone – fill notes they miss –

“And thus celestial harmony
Will sound – absurd when it’s just thee –
But in the larger scene there’ll be
Amazing fullness – can you see –

“That it’s about the body life?
Your part in it – above world strife?
You can ‘drop-down’ celestial food
With great abandon – if you would.

“So, yes, it’s word of Jubilee –
Discernment; of its place, to be
Of maximum effect, in Me –
Ka-boom – some more are then set free.”

Lord, what about the media –
And other tools for doing that?
Am I to “Do”? No, now I hear
The meaning of that time – so dear –

When You said, “Lay all at My feet
As golden seed – plant each, discrete,
In ground – no way to take back up;
Then witness crop emerge – though tough.”

Okay – so tasks and tools, assigned
Are, with authority – though blind
I’ve been through all this, it gets clear,
As I towards Your end drawn near.

Thanks Lord for this.
