“The Vision-er” [reflections on Kemberly Blaesor's Book – Gerald Visenor - Writing the Oral Tradition]
“They were camping”, were the story-starting words
In the oral, after which what would be heard
Was Ojibwa – English word, but what the heck,
“Anishinabe” is their word – best people yet.Gerald Vizenor is a “mixed-blood trickster” type
Writes a lot – tries to get to the oral right
In his writing – print that is, words rising up
Off the page – think it’s easy, but it’s tough.In this book, I found kindred-writer-type;
Comprehension rose – his style is what I like –
Now I get it – A. T. Book-works tries the same –
Pix and writing, graphic art – admixed’s the game.Liberation, play, and discourse, all mixed in –
Imagination, there so all can now begin
To appear, thus rising off type-written page –
Sharing wisdom from this futuristic sage.Bids the reader enter into sub-text’s line
With ellipses, dashes, spaces – he’s refined
His technique, so it’s a dialogue he starts
With each reader – who brings half its thought to art.Implications are a vehicle in this;
Imagination is so critical – so risk’s
Not avoided – “Pick this up, and make it yours;
Follow closely; it can settle in-word wars”.Stories spoken can’t be taken back again;
They’re alive now – finding power in life, they reign;
Words exist, so sound allows them to be free;
Thus creating worlds around in which we see –Silence spoken in the quietness of power;
Word-ly meaning turning sweetness from the sour;
Firm foundation in the spirit-side of life;
Words and photos capture corpses that look “Nice”.Rhythms, drum-beats, echo ’round us all each day;
Such vibrations, base of what we do and say,
Are impactful – resonate or jangle on;
Inner balance – harmonies with inner song.“Re-imagine” – “Shadow-stories” (hints allowed),
Let the readers go on journeys then as now;
“Punchy-pictures” – I have photographed to date –
Like this artwork – massive impetus he’s made.Lord, this author opens up new realms for me –
Comprehending – TCK – now I can see –
“Mediation” – harmonies where once estranged
Neighbor people – through such art, hearts re-arrange.Thanks Lord for this.
