“What’s Your First Clue?” [Reflection on Larry Winget’s Book – You’re Broke Because You Want to Be, Poem #4, Chap.3]
You’re in a jam, that’s obvious;
To details your oblivious;
Temptation’s to look anywhere
Than in the mirror of despair.And yet that look’s long-overdue;
Do what you will, there’s nothing new
That will be added to your debt
Except awareness – but you’ll get –That bottom-hitting, thudding sound
Which should have come – for you’ve been bound
For this engagement with the end
A long-time since – but would not bend.So take the time to look around;
It’s your new home, where you’ll be ground
To pulp for being stupid – see?
Remorse is good – now start to be –Ticked off enough to take a hold
On life you’ve got – you must be bold
In moving on – long-overdue
As single, or as married two.“Ground-breaking” is a comfy thought,
Except for when it’s you who’s got
Your face directed at the ground,
And now earth moving’s going down.For “breaking ground” when building starts,
Is party time – construction’s part
That signals plans which now begin
To form the spaces we’ll live in.But when it’s us, then “broke’s” the word
That’s used for us – let now be heard
A firm resolve to change the way
You do your life for this new day.Thanks Lord for this.
