“Near To The Bone” [Reflection on Larry Winget’s Book – You’re Broke Because You Want to Be, Poem #7, Chap.6] (1 Corinthians 13; James 3:13-18).

So where’s the bone, ’neath muscle, fat?
The trimming knife goes down to that;
If structure’s bad, then dump that too,
Lest saving crap means losing you.

I think of corpus – body – Corp. –
The game it fosters (there’s no work);
At least it buys them time, shifts blame
From “One percent” (life stays the same).

He said they sold their resource base,
Then to the off-sure banks they raced
To feather nests – like in this land –
“Who gets to exploit, leads the band”.

That’s my main problem with his tome –
He’s learned to play the game at home;
True what he’s gleaned, ’cept Chap thirteen –
“If I should gain, what would it mean?”

That’s where it cuts down to the bone –
“Pull Oral’s levers”, all that’s known
Along that line – world’s wisdom’s ways;
Without that one, whose Good-Book says –

“I am the heart of all there is;
Each center-piece ’cept me is fizz,
And in the end it’s seen as that;
Play all you want – for that’s a fact.”

Lord, New-age ways go part-way there;
Good as they are, naught can compare
With Kingdom-layered life in You,
In all we are, and think, and do.

Thanks Lord for this.
