"On Learning"  [Gross and Shapiro - Tao Of Photography - Reflections - Sec. 4 - General]

I learn two ways (or “both”, some say) –
The formal and informal way;
Encourager, I learn myself,
And giver, take what’s on the shelf.

First photo-roll, pix of our church;
“Three feet” they’d said, but what was worse,
Was what they did not say with that –
“That’s minimum – you can stand back”.

I learned myself (both meanings there),
And taught a lot – had to prepare
For those with broader needs than mine –
That’s partly how I learned in time.

Andreas Feininger was one
Who helped me focus – when he’d done
His set of options, laid them out,
I found what I was all about.

Now Internet can mentor fine,
While kids on YouTube teach in time;
A great resource – comes after book
On Tao – improves how artist’s look.

Thanks Lord for this.
