When I Can’t Help

Lord, when I can’t help,
It’s not that there is no hope –
But more, that
They haven’t placed themselves
In that position by which I can give –
And that, to me, is so frustrating.

“For I cannot
     Rise up and give” –
          So needless is
               The waste.

Lord, I know You
     Are aware of all this,
          And You say,
              “I too have been there”.

But now I guess
     Now I know
          Your heart,
                In its brokenness –
                     Having died,
                          That
                               We
                                     Might
                                           Live –

And yet –
     Still
          You can’t give.

Lord, what I hear
     Is, “Apostle”, Stu –
          Your task,
               Through which
                     I continue
                          To extend
                               That invitation –

So,
     As I don’t
          Quit on them –
                I need people
                     Through whom
                              I can work.

So,
     How about
          It Stu?
               Are
                    You
                         With
                               Me –

Tonight?

Thanks Lord, for this.
