Look Both Ways [Module#45] (Mark 6:37)

“Hey! Look both ways!”, My parents said,
’Fore crossing street” – or you’ll be dead”,
Or else they, in their wisdom ’d say,
“Stop, look, and listen! – Best obey!”

That’s what Christ told the twelve that day –
You feed the crowd”, they heard Him say;
In that command I hear His task –
“Just look both ways before you ask –

“For horizontal – ‘What ’cha got?’
For vertical – ‘Lord, send a lot!’
Diagonal – that’s mix of ways –
‘What have you got in mail today?’

“For what you have received today,
Just ask for it, and in that way
I can deliver it to you;
Assure, in prayer, it was for you.

“Don’t ask for what you’ve not received –
In time of prayer came to believe
It’s yours for asking – you’ve the choice –
Accept delivery? Yes, of course!

“So, guys, what have you got today?”
I hear in Scripture, Jesus say;
“Go see” – [will they look up and down,
So mix the two, and thus abound?]

Lord, “asking” is a pain to me,
Not sure just why – for victory
Is something else to those of us
Not part of man’s dynamic thrust.

It’s like it’s for the other guys;
Our task? Step back, play role of wise;
I hear, “No, Stu – plug wisdom in,
And live your life in world – begin –

To do the things you’ve learned so far;
Don’t just put pen to page – you are
In Me quite different from the rest,
Who could be also at their best –

If they would mix both parts of life,
Both up and down – while in their sight
Their lives a man who mentors them –
So show them how to start again.

The problem with your sage advice,
Is parents don’t stop – looking twice;
Kids notice – which makes learning tough,
For truth is caught, though taught enough.
