"Writing"   [Reflections on Chris Orwig's Book Visual Poetry - Chapter 3:3  ] (Jer. 30:1-3; 31:33-34; Prov 3:1-4; Luke 1:1-4; Heb. 8:10-12 )

It’s only been five thousand years
Or so we’ve written hopes, and fears,
The details of our world around
Detected in its sight and sound.

That’s brought a certain richness in
To daily life – we can begin
Where they left off, move on from there;
Their misconceptions then repair.

But also written word restricts
Our sense-perceptions – we can miss
A lot of detail knowing what
Is there ahead – we’re in a rut.

So live as if you cannot read –
Illiterate – a clever breed
Who make out fine – they read around
Their being what each sense has found.

Then capture what you sense today
In photographs – and thus convey
The richness of the world we miss,
As we our present contexts dis.

Be in the moment, here and now;
Become alert; and sense allow
To fill us up ’till cup o’er flows
With richness of the world God shows.

Thanks Lord for this.
