"Conditions Of Success"  [Sun Tsu 6:4] (Psalm 139; 18; John 4:7-10; Matt. 7:24-27; 16:13-20; Hebrews 4:12-13; Ephesians 6:10-20)

Success is certain, failure not in sight
When taking strongholds (win without a fight),
If you restrict attacks to where they’re not
Dug in and strong, secure in what they’ve got.

For no defense is possible at times
And places, if you’ll only set your mind
To knowing where, and when, and how, to move
Against an enemy – you can remove –

Him from a place of sure and firm defense –
Just don’t attack when he’s behind a fence;
Sophisticated action by those skilled
In good attacks on enemies aren’t killed –

In taking action midst uncertainty
Of where, and when, and how attack will be;
So much is knowledge-based – what’s known by whom –
Where does he hide in deepest secret room?

Conversely, then, defense is firm, secure,
If you dig in, but only where it’s sure
The enemy cannot attack such skilled defense;
What, where, and how, unknown in their offense.

The words of Scripture speak of strong defence
In God, advises us to quick repent –
Turn ’round, that is, our ways of thought each day,
And on that rock our firm foundation lay.

We hide in shelter of the wings of God,
Against attack as daily on we plod;
Sword of the Word, and Spirit’s strong defense
In arms of God once we change mind, repent.

No matter where we flee God’s love in fear,
He comes to us desires that we stay near;
He knows our ways and twisted styles of life,
Has given all that we move out of strife.

Defense I’ve learned – the shelter of Most High;
Offense is new – like legions of the sky
At our command – “Star Wars” behind the page,
As we, in Christ, in offense now engage.
