"Immigration"   [Reflections on Chris Orwig's Book Visual Poetry - Chapter 3:10 ] ( Gen. 2:15; 11:1-9; 1John 1:3-4; Acts 1:1-11; John 4:43-44; 14:1-4; Matt. 20:18-20)

All regions give a “frame effect” to those who live within,
Delimiting the land-effect where cultures all begin;
For us it’s tall-grass country, though there’s little of it left,
Tall grass, that is, domestic now of nature’s work bereft.

A frame within a camera depicts the end result,
Delimiting the content seen with all the rest left out;
Time was I had to drop that tool two years or so to see
The parts of life then out of frame – took time once more to be.

But frame contains what’s possible within that slice of life;
As regions, what is possible as culture comes to light
As way of doing life ’round there – while sandwiched in between
Is work – extracting resource from that ground, is what I mean.

Three-layer cake it is stacked up, with frame around the edge
Geography – eight regions on this land-form, some allege
Depicts eight ways of doing life admixed at border’s line
Within each frame, eight ways of life by landforms are defined.

All picture-frames hold focus in, so eyes bounce ’round the scene;
All frames ask viewers, “What’s left out?” “What could such absence mean?”
So give their eyes some place to go, give questions to explore;
And they will bring their stories in, with all possessing more.
