"Hebrew"   [Reflections on Chris Orwig's Book Visual Poetry - Chapter 3:4  ] ( Ezekiek 2:1-3:3; Matt 11:15; 13:10-17; 51-52; Mk.4:13; 33-34; Revelation 1:1-3)

The Hebrew, poet had a tool and style
Which helped him write his poetry, for while
He laid out symboled nuance like the rest,
His language left out parts which weren’t addressed –

But forced the reader to come close and think
About his symboled nuance, add the links
To his or her own life and history;
Make whole the half in written words he’d see.

So too with pictures, songs, and poetry –
Don’t tell it all, invite them in to see;
Suggest, and hint, evoked a deeper view
In captured scene, let them find what is new.

In Hebrew, there’s no word depicting “show”
Just “see” – create a context where they’ll know
Because they’ve found some other part within –
Let words and pictures help their search begin.
