Sitting Ducks [Fawcett #20] (2 Timothy 4:2b; Ephesians 6:10-20)

It’s sportsmanlike to raise the ducks,
Not shoot the ones who by dumb luck
Have stopped to rest and take a swim –
Not so when you must battles win.

In Zulu-British fracas once,
The force was split by senior dunce
Who left a part upon a hill
With no defense – so most were killed.

The next day fight resumed once more,
And on the British Zulus poured;
In end it was a draw – they left
Though Britts would dozen medals get.

There’s lots who into battle go
These days, who think there is no foe;
So do not plan a good defense,
Thus aren’t prepared – they make no sense.

So they get knocked off-balance fast,
In fracas they aren’t long to last;
Much better, “Having withstood all,
To stand” – advises tome of Paul.
