"The Hunger Games" (Sun Tzu 6:2) (Exodus 14:13-14; Matthew 5:38-48; 6:11-13; 25:31-46; James 2:1-26)
Daily bread to bodies feed;
Refreshing drink to slack our need;
Restful nights to gain our strength;
Sabbath days to live at length.Then each gift prefers some state –
Perceiver-types fast bucks to make;
Compassionate? Ah! rest and peace;
Servers? Active mode at least.Encouragers must interact;
Teachers – access to some fact;
Administrators structure crave;
Givers chance to scrimp and save.Sun Tzu says, “So deke them out –
Play with need to move about –
Positive to draw them near;
Negative the field to clear.Use volition, own accord;
Motivate them, not just sword;
Strength and weakness, use them to
Bring your enemy to you.Want to drive opponent out?
“Quite impossible” – that doubt
Of a painless easy kill,
Activates internal will.Threats (the prospect, laid out chance
Demonstrated in advance)
Hazards, harm; a taste of force;
Makes retreat seem worthwhile course.When at rest or wanting such,
Keep him running, wearied much;
Through harassment tire him out,
Then exhaust their strength through route.When he’s fed or wants to eat,
Well supplied, well-fed with treats,
Starve them out, play hunger games;
Well-placed hunger passion tames.When at rest, desirous of
Quiet camp with steady love,
Make them move, and move once more
’Till they walk through trap’s front door.Or, reverse, as Jesus says –
“Feed the hungry”; “kindness pays”;
“Go a second mile when forced”;
“Melt with love cold steel’s resource”–“I was hungry – you gave food”;
“Inner needs you understood”
“Evil and temptation’s power
Eased by you in Satan’s hour”.“Shabbat rest restored my soul;
Easy yoke my burdens bore;
With soft answer wrath was met;
Your kind ways I’ll not forget.“Then upon the cross that day,
After evil had its sway,
You forgave my forceful hand,
Resurrection’s changed my stand.”navigation
