Engaging Gears
Lord, thanks for opening up that text
About Centurion so vexed –
His son was dying, lying ill
With so much life before him still. For I’ve been there, as many have,
When facing loss of lass or lad,
We understand Centurion,
Who faced the loss of his dear son.But then, enlivened from the page,
Your word to me – “Stu, this engage,
Go back and edit – wrestle down
The meaning of “eight-hours” found –“Back in my words two years ago;
For there is something you should know –
“As if” (rejected – rightly so),
Can change if you will wrestle – go.”I did – and there it was – “and if”
Removed restrictions – huge the shift
From what was unacceptable,
To invite to the possible. The challenge, Lord, abides there still –
“Take Jesus, Stu, and what He wills,
As statement of a fact for you
To act upon if you so choose –“To take Him at His word and live
The life He longs as gift to give
To you – for your seven double-years –
Receive, unpack, engage its gears.”So big it is, O Lord, my God,
For one so small, as on I plod
Into Your future meant for me,
That in this world of Yours I see –A life laid out expecting me
To live in it, as I, in Thee,
Live out each day of “that and this”
Which gives You room through photo-kiss.Thanks Lord, for this.
