Coming (Matthew 17:14, 19, 22)

First they came, it says right there,
To the crowd, from hill-top air,
Where, transfigured, Christ had glowed,
Talked of death just up the road.

In that crowd, frustrated man –
“Help my son, I know You can;
Epileptic – life is trashed
By his seizures – he gets smashed.

Then they came, when by themselves,
To the Lord, asked Him to tell
Them how He could heal that kid
While they could not the illness rid.

“You’ve low faith”, Christ said, “and yet,
Greater faith you soon will get –
Then these larger tasks you’ll do
‘Moving mountains’ – that’s so cool”.

Then they came, in northern lands,
To each other – understand,
They, like us, thought of their lives
As alone, but that soon dies –

Not like death upon some cross,
But alone from body loss,
In a solitary life
Sick, weak, dying in their night.

Jesus did not mentor one,
Always two (that’s twice the fun) –
“Come together; share the load;
As you journey down your road.

“For each one, upon some hill
Stands a cross – for garbage swill
Is how they’ll, define, disgrace
You and ways you share My grace.

Come to crowd; then come to Christ;
Come together – good advice;
It’s no use until applied,
Which they learned before he died.
