“Why Sit We Here 'Till We Die” [#21C] (Matt.8:18-22; 2Kings 7:3-20)

Some are dying, some are dead;
Some who’ve died are now being fed,
By the hand of God above,
Who’s received them in His love.

There’s a cost to Way of Christ;
Tally the up-coming price –
Place to lay your head at night?
That may go as part of fight.

“Fight? How can that be?” You ask;
Cosmic – David’s fight will last
Long into the days ahead –
Adam’s choice, as we’ve all read.

Then come days of Solomon –
Kingly splendor, God’s own Son;
Time for us has cost in-deed,
Wartime’s always time of need.

Are you living? Are you dead?
Walking ’round with feet of lead?
Can’t get moving now the sun
Of your little day has run –

To its end, sunset is nigh?
Why on earth are you alive?
God has plans for all, each day;
Stay in Him and walk His way.

Jesus put the cost up front –
Batter up – home run, or bunt;
Either way, now get involved;
Follow Christ – it gets resolved.

Thanks Lord, for this.
