Now There’s The Pun

Now there’s the pun I could not see,
“To be of use” defined to me
The quest on which I’d started out,
Not banging head on stone wall stout.

Of course, to Sheldon, he’d not hear
The other part, to me now clear;
He’d hear a dumping of the church
As stuck somehow, or in a lurch.

And me? A man who could not wait
For them to move, so out the gate
I’d gone to pick up some new task,
And hence was here – “Hire me?” I’d asked.

But isn’t that just like old Stu?
“I want to be quite useful too
Like other men here in our land –
Photography I understand.

“Well, stills, at least, and video;
Not film, but I could undergo
Some training” – what a break that was
It open doors on doors because –

That was the up and coming thing;
Back then we’d in our pocket bring
Desire to learn, we’d work quite hard –
Through whirl it was – built home and yard.

Then it was done – my working years –
With mix of joy and desperate tears;
“To be of use” – did I do that?
I think so – Satisfaction’s Cat.
