Deer On The Road

My guess, first blush, it’s one in four;
The other three go out the door
For social costs, one way or next,
Two bits it is, so why be vexed?

One deer on roadway? Honk and brake;
One herd? Pull back in in outlook make
A change in view of present seen –
“Their road, so I must weave between”.

So too with taxes, (social costs);
And the charities (of which there’s lots);
Now socials draw an added toll
(Young couples living off the dole).

So one in four is what you take
To pay your business costs, and make
A bit to pay for milk and bread,
Like days of yore – you’re barely fed.

For wealth’s not how the system’s set –
The rich and poor keep on, and yet
We’re better off by far than those
Off this oasis – Goodness knows.

So, say our take is point eight-O
Say twenty K, so I can show
You what’s ahead – deer on the road,
And show the need to ease your load.

Full up, that’s twenty-five (should be);
Shift – point three five (what we’ll soon see);
That’s eight – seven five the coming drop);
Deer on the road – you’d better stop.

For now you take your one in four,
Apply that – which now gives the score
Of what you’ll have quite soon to run
Your business life – that look like fun?

That’s two point two, times four to make
An even buck from which to take
Your cut (per dollar you take in) –
That’s context where you’ll seek to win.

So eight point eight – go ten – be flush –
That’s ten percent for most of us;
So change of mind-set now could make
Life up ahead a breeze to take.
