Murder, She Wrote " [#12] (Matt 5:21-26)
It’s not so much a different way that narrow is to wide –
One needs to pull the edges in much closer to one’s side;
A superhighway to the West, or East, or North, or South,
Gives lots of wiggle-room to move, finessing with one’s mouth.But here, as in the other parts, Christ Jesus points this out –
“That’s very good, don’t murder, nasty stuff of that’s no doubt
And though it is the basis of your entertainment buck,
It’s best to think it over, ’cause you’re running out of luck.“Accept new limits to your walk in Me as we go forth;
Pull in the edges of the road to raise the journey’s worth;
Watch attitudes to other folks; don’t let bad thoughts mature,
Or you’ll pay later for your cause – effects you can’t endure.“So cancel church, go patch things up, if you have messed things up;
A challenge that, but easier than playing in the rough;
Be reconciled, then go to church, thanksgiving in your heart,
For grace of God that got you through the restoration part.“Don’t wait ’till things deteriorate to judges and the courts;
You’ve not a leg to stand on once they read through those reports;
So sort things out, snip off the bad, and let the good things grow,
And in the end community and family life you’ll know”.Lord as I read these lines today, reflecting on their thought,
I think about our project in pursuit of what one ought
To do as one pursues their wealth, prosperity, and such,
Which central lies within this land, and find there is so much –To learn about investment rules, taxation, social costs;
Like learning roles of highway life – new drivers think it’s lots;
And yet I look around and see there’s others on the road,
Who’ve learned it all before I came to grasp this heavy load.You’ve taken me deep in this land of givers and their kin;
Upon a broad road we’ve been on, but now you’re pulling in
The edges to that narrow road here in this Giver Land,
So tighter, faster, game is played, and I might understand –Reality of life for all is complex, deft, and fast;
One better know what’s happening or else one will not last
For very long, with traffic buzzing ’round in given ways –
But once one learns to drive with skill, with righteousness it pays.So thank You, Lord, for teaching me out here in Giver Land;
And thanks for helping me to see so I can understand
What’s going on; not panic, but stay cool and drive this van,
That in the end I’ll flow with other traffic, best I can.Thanks Lord, for this.
