To Cut

To cut the loaf the other way helps me
Reduce consumption, while it seems to be
The same – for cutting half the width freaks out
Consumption’s neurons – will in me’s in doubt.

But cut it lengthwise – there’s solution new –
It keeps half fresh, while keeping longer view;
And smaller pieces satisfy my goals
Of having bread, not scoffing down whole loaves.

To me that’s like the job ahead for me –
“Divide it – cut it up – that part I see;
But how to do that so results affirm
My daily actions – smaller parts to learn.

Lord, I’m just one of many folks I know
Who step out now to world’s we choose to go,
But face a challenge like a loaf too large –
Help each divided it up, so task’s not hard.

This is the part which I am thrilled to do –
The opening moves – the seed, the soil, and You;
Grace us this day to venture ’neath the sun,
As springtime comes – explosions now of fun.
