Setting Up The Hockey Boards [#11] (Exodus 20:1-17; Matthew 5:1-20)

Like salt, and light (not leaven here),
He laid it out, made end-point clear –
“Prosperity with righteousness
Would look a lot like this, and this –

“Of course I came to thus fulfill
The process – how you get there; still,
You gotta wanna – standard’s high –
As Heaven is – like endless sky.

“The Kingdom looks like poor who crave
A Spirit-filling once they’re saved;
Like mournful at another’s loss,
Who comfort find – redemption’s cost;

“Like cover on sixteen-inch gun,
Inheritor of endless fun;
Like those who, craving righteousness,
Feast at the banquet of the best.

“Like those who’s mercy brims their eyes,
Then find that mercy satisfies;
Like those whose lives are pure as glass,
Then, seeing God, have peace at last.

“Like sons of God who foment peace,
To wear that label they’re released;
Like those who take the hit for us,
In Kingdom live, despite the fuss.”

Then Jesus turned to His four men,
And turned the tables back again –
“But you four men they’ll persecute,
And as they with their arrows shoot –

“They’ll notice how you four men die,
See blessings pour from God on high
Into your lives, note you’re not sad,
But in your pain rejoice, are glad.”

So in this way Christ started to
Pound in the stakes – supports for you
To fasten up ten paneled-boards
To hockey play, here, for the Lord.

A faster, tighter, game’s laid out,
In other things He talked about
That day in Sermon On The Mount –
A treasure trove of vast amount.

But here, at start, He clearly speaks
Of end result, for those who keep
Within the boards to play their game –
“You play this way, your lives will change”.

The role of five-fold ministry?
Equip the saints to leaven be
Salt, light, in each community,
Each culture-stream – exceeding be.
