Adulterate Not [#13] (Matthew 5:27-31)

Adulterate the best things in your life?
Like deep desire you once had for your wife?
(Or husband, too – for me it’s ’bout my wife,
Not “Spousal unit”; “Partner”; or the like).

I ask, is she the deep desire of yours –
Your heart, that is, that one spelt, “au secours” –
Your helper – mete for you right from the start –
Designed for this last stretch before death parts?

“Do not forsake the love of early youth,
For she’s been there; her vows expressed the truth –
Through thick and thin”; so now, how ’bout it man?
Are you, for her, indeed her greatest fan?

Don’t shift from home to church as “family”;
It has its place, but that’s not home – you see,
It’s more a place for growing up, instead
Of in the cold, but otherwise it’s dead.

But home’s a place where we can be ourselves;
Where life’s okay; where we together dwell;
A church is like fuel-station with a hoist;
But in our homes, each person has a voice.

When things go badly, home is our retreat,
To gather strength, then go back on the street;
We long for home, a deep desire within,
Where God fulfills desires and there we win –

The best of life; our job? To keep it fresh;
Share feelings deep with friend who is the best;
Find ways to give support to mission thrust
She feels compelled to live – God working thus.

Thanks Lord for this.
